63% Of Hospital Admissions In Private Health Plans for Patients Under Age 65 With Chronic Conditions
Patients under 65 with chronic conditions represent 63% of all hospital admissions covered by private health plans. Patients with chronic health conditions have 29.3 admissions for every 1,000 members with chronic conditions. Across all health plan members there were 46.4 admissions per 1,000 members. These admissions for members with chronic conditions cost an average of $15,566 per visit, nearly 10% higher than the average spending of $14,248 for all inpatient admissions covered by private health plans.
