Florida Medicaid Legislation To Limit ER Visits & Physician Office Visits Starting August 1, 2012

On March 29, 2012, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed legislation, House Bill (HB) 5301 that makes significant changes to Florida Medicaid—including limits on reimbursement for adult Medicaid beneficiaries who make more than six emergency department visits per year. The limit goes into effect on August 1, 2012. The reimbursement limit applies only to non-pregnant adults over the age of 21. In addition to limits on emergency department visits for non-pregnant adults found in HB 5301, the state’s budget for 2012-2013 includes a provision that limits non-pregnant adults to no more than two general physician . . .
