April 18, 2005 Most of Seriously Ill Ohio Ex-Offenders Required Community Services Upon Re-Entry Most of ex-offenders with prior diagnoses for medical or mental health problems in the Cincinnati (Ohio) area required community services upon re-entry due to serious illness, including depression. Half of seriously ill men released from Ohio prisons and returning to Cincinnati were found to suffer from depression. Additionally, one-third of them were on medication, requested counseling, mental health treatment, or substance abuse treatment.
