New Private Prison to Open in Kingman

April 19, 2004 New Private Prison to Open in Kingman Approximately 450 inmates will take up residence in a new private prison southwest of Kingman (Arizona) beginning in August 2004. The prison is designed for 1,400 "level-2" and "level 3" and will initially house drunken-driving offenders who pose a low to medium risk, said Jim Hunter, the vice president of development for Dominion Correctional Properties (Dominion). In June 2003, Dominion began building the prison on property it purchased in 1999. Mr. Hunter said Dominion was contracted by Mohave Prison LLC (Mohave) to design and build the prison . . .
