Arizona, Mississippi, Montana & New Mexico Require Commercial Plans To Cover Telehealth

Arizona, Mississippi, Montana, and New Mexico have enacted laws requiring commercial health insurance plans to provide coverage for telemedicine services to the same extent that the services would be covered if they were provided in-person. As of April 10, 2013, the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) reports that with the new laws in these four states, a total of 19 states have enacted laws supporting telemedicine services. The ATA has been tracking states’ adoption of laws supporting the use of telehealth.
