In 2010, there were 458 mergers and acquisitions in the health care services market, 24% more than in 2009. The combined value of the 458 deals reached $64.9 billion, up 425% from the $12.3 billion the previous year. Among the 458 deals, 73 involved hospital systems with an aggregate value of $12.8 billion. Another 63 involved physician medical groups, with an aggregate value of $425.4 million.
