Use of Telehealth-Enabled Home Medical Devices Climbs

OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Strategic Health Care News By 2013, more than two million telehealth enabled home medical devices will be shipped globally. Worldwide shipments of as blood pressure monitors, weight scales, pulse oximeters, and peak flow meters will top 1.6 million units. Another 400,000 shipments of health hubs, such as integrated cellular handsets used as telehealth gateways, are expected by 2013. In 2009, health hubs were about 80% of the total telehealth gateways sold. These are findings of a study “Telehealth—World—2010” released by InMedica, a division of IMS Research focused on medical electronics consulting . . .
