Enrollment in Consumer-Directed Health Plans Grew by 22% in 2010
In 2010, enrollment in consumer-directed health plans (CDHP) increased by 22%, from 23 million in 2009 to 28 million in 2010. The number of employers offering CDHPs increased from 15% of all employers in 2009 to 17% in 2010. The increase in CDHP offerings was greatest among very large employers (20,000 or more employees), with 43% of all very large employers offering CDHPs in 2009 and 51% offering CDHPs in 2010.
