65% of Medical Offices Using Aetna Payment Estimator Tool Report Reduction in Bad Patient Debt

On May 5, 2011, Aetna Inc., announced that 65% of medical offices using the on-line Aetna Provider Payment Estimator tool reported a reduction in bad patient debt. The estimator tool was developed by NaviNet, which customized the program for Aetna. NaviNet contracts with health plans to provide a real-time health care communications networks for provider organizations affiliated with its health plan customers. Aetna launched its Provider Payment Estimator in 2010; since then, medical offices for its network provider organizations have used it nearly 350,000 times.
