Annual Family Health Coverage Tops $20,000 With Families Paying 40% of Total

The total cost of health care for a family of four covered by an employer sponsored health plan in 2012 is $20,728, and the family pays 42% as copayments, deductibles, and premiums. The remaining 58% of the cost is paid by the employer. The $20,728 includes $6,531 for inpatient care, $3,699 for outpatient care, $6,647 for physician services, $3,056 for pharmacy, and $795 for other services.
