Geisinger & Merck To Collaborate On Cloud-Based Patient Engagement & Medication Adherence Tools
On June 18, 2012, Geisinger Health System and Merck announced plans to launch a cloud-based suite of applications to help office-based physicians identify patients’ risk factors for chronic disease and improve patients’ medication adherence and compliance with treatment plans. The first application will focus on cardiovascular disease and Type 2 diabetes—cardiometabolic syndrome. The goal is to identify at-risk patients, educate patients about the condition, identify barriers to compliance with recommended treatment, and facilitate shared decision-making and individualized treatment planning during office visits.
