June 26, 2006 Military Institutes On-Line Mental Health Self-Screening Program Several thousand service members and spouses have used the Department of Defense (DOD) on-line mental health screening program developed specifically for military personnel and their families by Screening for Mental Health, Inc. (SMH). The Mental Health Self-Assessment Program (MHSAP), which launched in January 2006, contains questions that ask participants about depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, bipolar disorder, and alcohol abuse.
