July 16, 2001 Ohio Now Requires Telemedicine Licenses from the State Medical Board Ohio Governor Bob Taft signed a new state law requiring out-of-state physicians who frequently treat Ohio patients via computers or teleconferencing technology to obtain a telemedicine license from the State Medical Board. Under the law, the state board will issue $300 licenses to doctors who meet the stated criteria. The governor signed the bill (HB 585) on January 8, 2001, and the law took effect on April 8, 2001.
