MedPAC Recommends Expansion Of PACE Programs With Normalization Of Rates To Medicare Advantage
The Medicare Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) program should be expanded, according to a recommendation by the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), so that more people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid can participate. However, MedPAC also recommended that the capitated payment rates for PACE provider organizations should be reduced to match the rates for Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans for dual eligibles (D-SNPs). To expand the program, the age limits of the PACE program should be reduced to lower than age 55 to permit enrollment by younger Medicare beneficiaries needing nursing home level care . . .
