Employers Make HSA Contributions For 67% Of Employees In High-Deductible Health Plans
About two-thirds (67%) of employees enrolled in a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) with a linked health savings account (HSA) receive contributions from their employers. Of the employees with a HDHP, in 35% of instances, the employers made the only contribution and fully funded the account to cover the deductible, and for 32%, both the employer and employee contributed to the account. About 20% of employees make their own contributions, but receive none from their employers. Another 14% of employees made no contributions, nor does their employer.
