2007 Enrollment in Consumer-Directed Health Plans Up by 25%
OPEN MINDS On-Line News Strategic Health Care News In 2007, enrollment in consumer-directed health plans (CDHPs) was 12.5 million, a 25% increase over the 2006 enrollment of 10 million. Three-fourths of employers surveyed offered CDHPs in 2007 and of those employers not offering the plans, 11% said they were “very likely” to offer them in 2008. Of companies that offered CDHPs in 2007, 41% had more than 20,000 employees. About seven percent of small employers, with between 10 to 499 employees, offered CDHPs, up from five percent in 2006.
