About 40% of Americans Would Engage in Medical Tourism If Quality Matched U.S. & Cost Was Half
OPEN MINDS On-Line News Strategic Health Care News In a recent survey about 40% Americans said they would travel for medical care if the quality was comparable or better than the United States quality of care and the cost was half the usual U.S. price. The use of medical tourism is expected to increase, such that by 2017 up to 15 million Americans could receive care at overseas health care facilities. The practice is expected to grow quickly between 2008 and 2012. These are findings of a report entitled “2008 Survey of Health Care Consumers” by Deloitte Center . . .
