August 22, 2005 Elder Health Takes Over AmeriChoice Medicare Business On Monday August 2, 2005, Elder Health Pennsylvania HMO, Inc., assumed the Medicare business of AmeriChoice of Pennsylvania, Inc. The action took place under a new agreement approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. With the addition of the AmeriChoice membership, Elder Health will serve over 13, 000 Medicare beneficiaries and become one of the larger Medicare managed-care plans in Pennsylvania.  Elder Health, based in Philadelphia, has provided Medicare health coverage since 2002.
