September 24, 2007 Valley Baptist Medical Center Opens Psychiatric Hospital at Brownsville East Campus On September 1, 2007, Valley Baptist Medical Center (VBMC)-Brownsville opened a 37-bed psychiatric center in Brownsville, Texas. The facility will treat adults who require inpatient treatment and will offer group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, stress management, and patient and family education. It is the first inpatient behavioral health facility to be located in the town of more than 170,000 people; it will also serve surrounding Cameron County.
