Arizona to Privatize 5,000 Prison Beds
OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Social Services Arizonas latest budget bill signed September 3, 2009, included language that permits the state to seek proposals to lease 5,000 prison beds to private corrections companies for $100 million. The Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) will issue a request for information before October 1, 2009, to identify the feasibility of a concession agreement to permit a private vendor to operate one or more prison facilities.
