Tarrant County Slashes $6 Million in MHMR Budget

October 13, 2003 Tarrant County Slashes $6 Million in MHMR Budget Texas' Tarrant County Mental Health Mental Retardation (MHMR) cut more than $6 million in jobs and services on August 26, 2003 as a result of state funding decreases. The state provides 51% of the agency's revenue. MHMR serves about 20,000 residents of the county (about 750 mentally ill or mentally retarded county residents), and approximately $4 million of the cuts will impact mental retardation jobs and services. A total of 113 jobs in mental health and mental retardation will be phased out in the next few months . . .
