Enrollees In California’s County Low-Income Health Plans To Be Transferred To Medi-Cal On January 1, 2014

By January 1, 2014, California’s counties will transition about 600,000 people enrolled in 53 county-run Low-Income Health Plans (LIHPs) into Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid program) or subsidized commercial health plans available through Covered California, the state’s health insurance marketplace. California was one of the few states to agree to expand Medicaid eligibility to low-income, childless, non-disabled uninsured adults before January 2014.
