New Hampshire Prison System Partners With University To Improve Psychiatric Care
This fall, the department of psychiatry at New Hampshire's Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center began providing psychiatry services to the New Hampshire prison system. The partnership is expected to benefit the states inmates and give psychiatry residents essential training. Dartmouth's contract with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections is valued at $1.3 million a year and arose from 12 years of providing psychiatric services at the New Hampshire Hospital in Concord, the states only public psychiatric hospital.
