October 21, 2002 Pittsburgh and Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania Conducts Survey of Handicap Accessibility of Medical Offices The Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare has hired a Pittsburgh-based firm, Accessibility Development Associates, to conduct a three-year study to measure the accessibility of medical offices. More than 1,500 medical offices in the Pittsburgh and Lehigh Valley areas will be reviewed over the next three years. The facilities will be evaluated for accessibility to individuals with two specific disabilities - wheelchair bound and hearing impaired.
