Long-Term Care Insurance Complaints on the Rise

October 22, 2007 Long-Term Care Insurance Complaints on the Rise Between 2003 and 2006, consumer complaints about claim denials by long-term care insurance (LTCI) plans have risen by 18% in the United States, and when reviewed, nearly 70% of the initial claim denials have been reversed in favor of the consumer. Claim denials have risen from 254 in 2003 to 442 in 2006. Overall, consumer complaints about LTCI plans have increased by 92% between 2001 and 2006. The complaints include confirmed and unconfirmed problems with the plans; unconfirmed complaints include consumer dissatisfaction with the amount of coverage available . . .
