October 24, 2005 Canadian Pharmacies to Sell Medical MarijuanaOn September 14, 2005, Health Canada (HC) reported that it will follow the lead of the Netherlands and allow some pharmacies to begin selling medical marijuana in 2006. According to the agency, a nationwide network could take up to three years to establish. Currently a government contractor grows and distributes approximately $150 worth of marijuana, or the equivalent to 30-gram bags, to 237 patients and their physicians nationwide.
