In 2023, 11.5 million unpaid dementia caregivers in the United States provided approximately 18.4 billion hours of care for the estimated 6.9 million people age 50 or older with cognitive problems due to Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. On average, this represents nearly 31 hours of care per caregiver per week or 1,612 hours per caregiver per year.
