$6.3 Billion In Medicare Meaningful Use Incentive Payments Awarded To Hospitals & Eligible Professionals In 2012
During 2012, the federal Medicare meaningful use incentive payment program awarded $6.3 billion to 2,291 hospitals and 183,712 eligible professionals for their use of health information technology and electronic health records (EHRs) during 2011. Almost half of eligible hospitals and less than a third of eligible professionals received Medicare EHR incentive payments for 2012. During 2011, Medicare awarded $2.3 billion to hospitals and eligible professions for meaningful use of EHRs and health information technology.
