Hawaii Outsources Education Services In Residential Youth Facilities To MTX Therapy Services
Via a new $2 million contract, MTX Therapy Services will now provide teacher staffing for the Hawaii Department of Education's seven youth residential treatment facilities. The contract started July 24, 2012, and runs through June 30, 2013. Previously the facilities were responsible for hiring teachers. Each of the residential facilities has a different maximum number of students they serve daily; however, the average is approximately eight students per day. Students at the residential treatment facilities have a variety of disabilities including developmental delay, autism, sensory deficits, emotional impairment, cognitive disabilities, health impairment, health or orthopedic impairments, learning disabilities, speech . . .
