Temple University To Set Standards For Community Health Workers

Temple University Health System has launched a comprehensive one-month training program for community health workers and seeks to establish the training curriculum as an industry standard. The training program has three key goals: to develop a trained community health workforce in an underserved urban area, reduce health care utilization costs for high-risk patients, and to create an employment opportunity in an area of high unemployment. During the intensive classroom and experiential portion of the training, the curriculum covers methods of bringing personalized, preventive, and treatment health resources to patients.
