The federal Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) is preparing for a project in which it will rank the effectiveness of patient education materials delivered by electronic health records (EHRs). The goal is to develop a valid and reliable Health Information Rating System (HIRS) as a first step in a larger project that will create a library of patient health education materials, review EHRs patient education capabilities and features, and educate EHRs vendors and users.
