November 13, 2006 CMS Proposes Fire Prevention Sprinklers for All Nursing Homes A new regulation proposed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will require nursing homes to install sprinkler systems in order to maintain Medicare and Medicaid eligibility. The proposed rule asks for public and industry input on an appropriate phase-in time to allow older homes to retrofit their facilities. The comment period will remain open until December 26, 2006.
