Medicare Hospital Patient Safety Rankings Out

In October 2011, Medicare released hospital quality of care rankings on the new Hospital Compare web site. The rankings are based on hospital performance on patient safety measures, such death rates for post-surgical conditions, the rates of medical errors, and patient satisfaction rates. The patient safety data at Hospital Compare reports how often patients at the more than 4,900 hospitals in the United States experience surgical complications, infections, or avoidable injuries while hospitalized.
