Percentage of Workers With Employer -Sponsored Health Insurance Fell From 64.2% in 2000 to 59.7% in 2006

OPEN MINDS On-Line News Between 2000 and 2006, the percentage of workers in the United States with employer-provided health insurance fell by 4.5%, from 64.2% to 59.7%. If employer-provided insurance coverage rates had continued at 2000 rates, 13 million more people would have employer-provided coverage. About 21.9% of people in the bottom 20% income levels had employer-provided coverage. In 2006, about 47 million Americans lacked health insurance; in 2000 about 38.4% of Americans were uninsured.
