November 22, 2004 47% of Those in Addiction Treatment Suffer from Both Drug and Alcohol Abuse Of 1.1 million Americans in drug and alcohol abuse therapy in 2003, 47% were treated for both drug and alcohol abuse. Of the remaining 53% of individuals, 33% were being treated for drug abuse only, and 20% were being treated for alcohol abuse only.
