Among Older Adults With Dementia, 12% Of Those In Home Or Assisted Living Facilities & 5% Of Those In SNFs Do Not Have Advance Care Plan
During their last year of life, 12.2% of older adults (age 65+) with dementia who live in their own homes or an assisted living facility (ALF) and 4.6% of those in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) had no advance care plan detailing their end-of-life care preferences. The gap was identified in a study that included 1,203 older adults with dementia. About 51.7% lived at home or in an ALF, and 48.3% were SNF residents.
Of those who lived at home or an ALF, about 70.7% had at least one hospitalization, and 80.2 . . .
