Monterey County Division of Behavioral Health Launches Netsmart’s Avatar as New EMR

OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Mental Health & Chemical Dependency Services On July 1, 2009, the Monterey County Health Department, Behavioral Health Division (BHD) started using a new electronic medical record (EMR) system; it is using Avatar version PM 2007 from Netsmart. The $2.2 million contract, which started in April 2008, has moved BHD from a completely paper-based system to a paperless one with electronic prescribing, clinical notes, electronic billing, and executive dashboard reports.
