Vermont To Launch Single-Payer Health Care System By 2017

Vermont is in the process of implementing a 2011 law mandating that the state to launch a single-payer health care system by 2017. In May 2013, the state legislature enacted additional changes in House Bill 107 to its laws affecting health insurance, Medicaid, the Vermont Health Benefit Exchange, the Green Mountain Care Board (GMCB), and health care consumers, provider organizations, and facilities. Authority over health insurance rate review was moved to the GMCB.
