14% Of Older Adults With Disabilities Needing HCBS Have No Informal Family Caregiver
In 2020, 14% of older adults who need assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) or instrumental ADL (IADL) did not have a spouse or children who could provide informal home- and community-based services (HCBS). By 2080, is estimated that 25% of older adults will have no immediate family caregiver. While some of the care for that population is projected to shift to paid care professionals, adults aging solo often turn to friends, neighbors, and other members of their social networks to provide care.
