About 14% of Americans age 15 and older, an estimated 38.2 million people, provided unpaid care for an older adult in 2023 and 2024, according to data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). On any given day, 28% of those unpaid caregivers spent an average of 3.9 hours on caregiving tasks.
