15% Median Premium Increase Requested By ACA Marketplace Insurers For 2026 Plan Year

Across 105 Affordable Care Act (ACA) Health Insurance Marketplace insurers in 20 markets (19 states and the District of Columbia), premiums for the 2026 plan year are increasing by a median of 15%, according to a recent analysis of rate filings. The increases are the largest in more than five years. In comparison, the median proposed rate increase for the 2025 plan year was 7% across all product lines.

The analysis for the 2026 plan year was conducted by researchers with the Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker. ACA Marketplace insurers submit rate filings to state regulators to justify premium changes . . .
