Among Medicare beneficiaries admitted to a nursing home in 2018, 16.4% who were not enrolled in Medicaid in 2018 spent down their assets to enroll in Medicaid, according to a recent study. The likelihood of spending down assets to enroll in Medicaid varied by demographic characteristics.
