20% Of Young Children In Low-Income Families Who Move Have Disruptions In Access To Social Safety Net Programs

About 20% of low-income families with children under age four who moved home locations had disrupted access to at least one social safety net program. Based on an analysis of 9,344 children eligible for SNAP, WIC, and/or Medicaid, 44% of those who moved due to cost had disrupted access to at least one of the programs. For non-cost moves, about 14% had disruptions to their access for at least one safety net program.
