33% Of Young People Worldwide Forecast To Be Obese Or Overweight By 2050

Worldwide, about one-third of the estimated 2.3 billion children and adolescents in 2050 are likely to be overweight (385 million) or obese (360 million). The forecast equates to 356 million children aged 5 to 14 years and 390 million aged 15 to 24 years. Within these groups, about 186 million children ages 5 to 14 are projected to have obesity, representing about 15.6% of this age group in 2050. Within the older group of those ages 15 to 24, 175 million are projected to have obesity, representing about 14.2% of this age group in 2050.
