35 State Employee Plans Offer Medicare Advantage Coverage To Retirees; In 13 Of these States, Medicare Advantage Is The Only Option In 2024
For 2024, 34 states and the District of Columbia (DC) offer Medicare Advantage (MA) coverage to their Medicare-age retirees (aged 65 years and older). In 13 of these states, an MA plan is the only option offered to state retirees; four of these states offer plans with $0 premiums (or fully subsidized premiums). In 14 states, retirees are offered only coverage for a Medicare supplement plan. A total of 21 states and DC offer retirees the option for either a MA plan or a Medicare supplement plan.
