41% Of People In Denver, Colorado Who Sought Behavioral Health Treatment Unable To Find Services

During 2022, 41% of Denver, Colorado residents who sought behavioral health services could not obtain them, according to an assessment conducted by the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment (DDPHE). A total of 61% of those surveyed said that COVID-19 had made looking for mental health or substance use services much more or somewhat more difficult during the year. Behavioral health options included such services as psychiatrist, emergency, or residential mental health services.

During 2022, the most frequently reported barriers to gaining care included:

Wait time to receive services (36%)
Services cost too much (35%)
