45% Of Opioid Treatment Programs Offer All Three Types Of Medications For Opioid Use Disorder
The percentage of U.S. opioid treatment programs (OTPs) offering all three medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) beyond methadone increased from 33% in 2017 to 45% in 2023, according to a recent study. The three types of MOUD include methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone. The researchers determined that most OTPs nationwide still did not provide all three MOUD options. They recommended increased efforts to encourage OTPs to offer comprehensive MOUD treatment.;
