53 Children In Massachusetts DCF Group Homes Abused Or Neglected In 2014

During 2014, 53 children in residential facilities regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) were abused or neglected. Their cases were among 184 reports of abuse of children in DCF custody that were investigated by the Massachusetts Office of the Child Advocate (OCA). The 184 children represented 1.2% of children in DCF custody and placed in out-of-home care. The names of the operators of the residential facilities where the 53 children were placed have not been disclosed.
