58% Of Employees Delayed Necessary Medical Care Due To Cost Or Insurance Barriers
As of January 2023, 58% of surveyed employees said they had delayed necessary medical care due to cost or insurance barriers. About 42% said they delayed care because there was not an appointment available when they needed it. The survey further found that 35% of employees delayed or avoided care due to fear of contracting or spreading COVID-19.
Just 60% of surveyed employees said that they were up-to-date on preventative screenings. Among those who were not current on preventive screenings, the top reasons included:
17% said screenings were not necessary because "I'm young and healthy".
