NYU Langone Medicare Bundled Payment Initiative Resulted In Fewer Discharges To Post-Acute Care Facilities, Without Rise In Readmission Rates
A Medicare bundled payments initiative operated by New York University Langone Medical Center (NYULMC) reduced discharges to post-acute care facilities, such as skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). While achieving this reduction, there was no increase to hospital readmission rates.
The Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative is a three-year program, and the participating provider organizations receive a single payment for all services provided to Medicare beneficiaries during a single episode of care.
